The Day After Halloween
Good morning, my dears. Let's talk about my favorite holiday, Halloween. This year, things have been low key. I normally start decorating on September 1st. This year, things were delayed a bit, so on the first Friday of the month, I started cleaning, and then I hung up on my sugar skull on my front door. Then I discovered youngest son ran away from home. I didn't put up anymore decorations.
The night before Halloween, I decided I wanted to wake up to a clean kitchen. I scrubbed counters, put away dishes, and emptied the trash. Then I did a protection spell with these red peppers from my garden. I have no intention of eating these. But I think it is perfectly fine to plant the seeds in January. Then I will get peppers that protected me. Those peppers will make seeds, thus the spell will renew itself for as long as I am gardening. I don't need to worry about losing magick or things going bad/getting moldy. And if it does, I will compost the peppers, turning negativity into nutrient rich soil; that's alchemy, and still the magick continues on. I cleaned this window before I did the spell. The next morning, fine cobwebs covered everything. I take that to mean my spell worked.
On Halloween I visited a cemetery. I don't have family in this one, but I felt it was important to visit the dead.
I have more pictures of the cemetery, but I am writing this post on my phone and loading pictures is tricky. Baptist Hill is old, but still in use. Not all of the graves are marked. There's some odd things, like a sewer pipe sticking up in a family plot. I found a glass insulator for a telegraph line. I don't understand why utilities were in the cemetery unless it expanded or that part had unmarked graves when they ran the lines, making it seem empty. Or maybe once upon a time a church or the care taker's cottage was nearby. There are houses very close to the cemetery with graves to the very edges, so maybe the parameters were never clearly defined. I think maybe some of the yards might have a grave or two in them, but the current residents don't know.
This year, my daughter was an angel. She was told multiple times while trick-or-treating that she was beautiful.
I am a dragon. By the end of the night, my feet hurt so much that they burned. I looked fabulous in my sparkly dress. I wish the camera actually picked up the multi colored strands. I didn't wear my dragon mask much because I couldn't see well enough to drive, nor could I see my daughter walking beside me. Then it got hot rubbing my cheek bones, so gave up. Until we walked past the clown house. The home owner was dressed as Pennywise. He wasn't scary looking, but he was using Halloween as an excuse to ignore boundaries. He got way too close to little girls and teens in revealing costumes. He talked excessively, walking next to females close enough to feel body heat. I put myself between him and my daughter, wondering if I would need to beat him up in the street. I don't think he would have followed if my husband had gone trick-or-treating with us. But my husband wasn't feeling well. Since we know the neighborhood, I left my weapons in the car. Pennywise might have stayed in his driveway if he saw my Glock.
Today is a new moon in Scorpio on the first day of the Witches' New Year. I will be doing several spells. I suggest you make good use of today's energy.
Blessed be. Don't let the creeps bother you.
