Awaken the Dragon

Image
This week, I have been repainting the bookcase in the living room. We store shoes and bags on it. It was rather ugly because it's an old set of shelves that has belonged to other family members, and thus was painted at least three different colors. Before I applied a clear coat, I painted a dragon and Celtic knots to the bottom. Now that the bookcase is back in the house, I will activate the dragon for protection. The whole bookcase acts as a charging station so that we are protected wherever we go. This is much easier than trying to charge each pair of shoes, or remembering to keep active anti-theft charms on laptops. Or adding dragon majick to business spells. Or remembering to ask for luck, blessings, and opportunities. Work smarter, not harder.  Being that the bookcase is in the living room, I can renew the spell weekly when I clean. I can also add to the spell. We seem to have leveled up in prosperity, but it isn't constant. This gives me another layer of dragon wealth,...

Giving Up

I don't think I am going to be able to write anymore of the Witches & Majick Series. I probably won't be able to do my Mabon version either. It is a good idea, one that I would like to revisit in the future. We now return to our regular scheduled posts. My apologies.

The Witches & Majick Series Spring Edition Day 2

Image
Good morning, my dears! It's Day 2 and today's block is the Churn Dash. This block originated in the early 1800's, and it is meant to look like a butter churn. I know very few people churn their own butter, so here is a picture: Milk is poured into the jug, and the wooden thing, called a dash, stirs the milk, making it separate. Churning milk is necessary for making butter, cream, buttermilk, and cheese. Because there was no refrigeration, churning would have been a near daily chore.  Like most quilt blocks, this one has many names, such as through the barn door, and monkey wrench. Being that this block on based on a 9 patch grid, it also has many variations. Here is a two tone example. And here is a small star inside the churn dash.  Supposedly, this quilt was used in the Underground Railroad as a signal to gather supplies. I have a lot of issues with quilts being used as messages in the Underground Railroad. I will be discussing this in a later post.  Majickal us...

The Witches & Majick Series Spring Edition Day 1

Image
Good morning, my dears. It's Day 1 of a new Witches & Majick Series. This one starts on the spring equinox and runs to Beltane (May 1.) At first, I thought I wanted to write about different kinds of Majick, or how to do different spells. Spring and Beltane always leans towards love and sex. While those are good things, both are often manipulated into selfish ways to hurt others. I didn't want that. I decided to change topics slightly. I am writing about a subject that I love- quilting. Specifically, I am writing about quilt blocks, what they mean, and how to use them in spells. I am not going to run out of subject matter because there are thousands of quilt blocks. This may continue on in Autumn.  I'm starting with the log cabin block. Log cabin originated in America in the late 1800's. If the center of the block is red, that represents the hearth fire. If the center is yellow, it's the lantern in the window to lead you home. Log cabin blocks are very popular w...

Friday 13

My dog thinks I will share my lunch with her. She is mistaken.  I was supposed to fly this morning. Around 6:30 I walked the dogs. I started coughing. Wheezing. My chest felt heavy. I couldn't breathe. I couldn't talk. My husband had to call my flight instructor for me. My face felt puffy and vaguely sore to the touch. I went back to sleep. I haven't done much today. I planned to work on art, but it seems to take a long time to do anything. I've also had two low sugars.  I found a caregiver for my mother. Mom was nice to her. She thinks the caregiver is someone she used to know.  I cleaned both my watch and the charge port. Now it works properly and I can track my steps and heartrate.  I moved family pictures around. I don't really feel like taking pictures of the pictures, so just take my word for it. It looks better.  I started listing all the majick I do in my journal. I do spells every day, but sometimes it doesn't feel like it. Probably because I rar...

Learning to Fly, Coming Down is the Hardest Thing

Image
My dears, I do not feel well. It's the weekend and all my neighbors are smoking weed, which I am allergic to. I've had at least two allergic reactions in the last 12 hours. I've also had several low sugars. I can't really tell which symptoms belong to which auto-immune illness. I may ramble a bit. Also, A LOT has happened, most of which probably had to do with the recent full moon.  First, most important and most exciting, I got to fly an airplane! I am amazed by how beautiful everything looks from the sky. I think I appreciate the Earth more now that I have been above it.  Flying the plane made me so happy. When I landed, I felt like I could do anything. I went to check on my mother and she couldn't even make me mad. I simply did not care what she said. It doesn't matter. I did not drink anything that night. I just did not need or want alcohol. I didn't see how whiskey could improve my mood because I was already at the top of my game. I did have a drink la...

Quite A Lot

The full moon zipped by and I failed to post because holy shit. Today I am flying an airplane. There is A LOT of reading involved in aviation. Most of it doesn't make sense until I do the thing. Learning to fly is very much like being blind and only getting verbal descriptions. It would help more to touch the thing. I have a bunch of books I need to carry around. I have a pilot's logbook that must stay with me. I have several manuals. I have downloaded an app to keep up with constant updates, but I still want the book. I thought I could use my husband's book but he has a different one because he learned to fix planes, not fly them. Some years ago I decided to study weather so I could be a better gardener and now I need to dig out my weather book and relearn that so I can understand the aviation weather book and app. I carry a bookbag again and I feel like a college student once more, though I feel more intelligent this go round.  My mother has taken to wandering around her...
