Saturday
On Thursday, I cleaned my desk.
I had piles of paper. I hate that. I'd much rather just have whatever I am working on in front of me, with everything else put away.
On Friday, I cleaned and organized three drawers. Now, on Saturday:
still clean. I did buy some fake turf, and that's on my desk. It's Easter decoration, but a lady in my fiber group put me on to using fake turf in nesting boxes. It doesn't flatten or rot. It cushions the eggs nicely. If the chickens poop on it, fake turf can be hosed off, then reused. But I refuse to buy Tractor Supply's fake turf because they are overly proud. I was really excited to find a roll for $5. I don't know how much is on the roll, or many nesting boxes I could fill. I only have two chickens, so I guess it doesn't matter. I am debating if I want to cut it up, or if I want to put my turf under the house with my other chicken coop supplies. Maybe I should go ahead and move the coop, then make improvements.
I also got an artist's portfolio. Trying to figure out how to store art was the drive behind cleaning the desk. My desk is too close to the front door. It is a handy dumping ground for family members trying to hang up keys, take off shoes, and do something with the drinks and car parts in hand. The only thing that doesn't get put on my desk is the one thing I asked for- the mail. Instead, my husband will put the mail on the counter, on the table, on the bed, or on the dog kennel. I won't know where it is. Then I clean the house and discover the water bill is past due.
All my art was in the black file box under my desk. Where I never saw it, and therefore forgot what I had done. I have a bunch of quilts in the cedar chest. Of course, I forget what's in the chest. I think I might need two portfolios, one filled with everything, and another with the best work. I would like to work with galleries.
Today, I am cleaning the house. I was supposed to keep my grandson all weekend, but his parents never dropped him off. They didn't call me either. I don't know what's going on.
Since I am apparently child-free, I decided to get the house in order, then get my art in order. It is raining today, supposedly, the cold front hits Monday night, then all the rain turns to ice which will keep us confined to the house. Something that needs to be sorted, organized, and labelled is probably just what I need.
Blessed be, my dears. Stay safe and warm.
