Updating Listings Resulted in a Sale!

It only took two days! Actually, more like a day and a half since the sale went through yesterday evening. I didn't see it until this morning when I checked my email. Doing something with the shop every day works. I am still updating listings by the signs. For the second day in Aries, I updated a sun sticker. Today the moon is in Taurus, an earth sign. I decided to update a tree sculpture. I think the tree is very good art, and it should have sold by now. I should mention, that what sold wasn't one of the items I updated. That's fine. One less listing to update.

Another bonus to updating the listings is that it gives me a good place to refer art consultants without me having to create a website to promote my work. Being a successful artist is all about how you are selling art, rather than being about making art. This is the down side of living in a capitalist society.

But anyway, I have decided to treat my shop as my job/career, rather than an extra way to earn money. The nice thing about the shop being online is that it is always open without me always being present. Updating the listings doesn't take that long if I do one a day. I think I spent under an hour updating the candle; that's writing, staging new photos, editing, then cleaning up the trunk I used as a set. While I want to earn a comfortable living with my art, I do NOT want it to be a full time job. I enjoy making things, but making all day gets tiresome.

I have some new projects in the works. I got more supplies yesterday. Pictures to come soon. Blessed be, my dears. Stay safe and well.

Full Moon Post

Good afternoon, my dears. I am struggling today. I had several allergic reactions last night. The combo of lacking sleep and antihistamines has me dragging. I did a spell to remove the allergens. Enough already.  I am making lots of notes, so that when I am able to think, I will have a list of things to do. I've had several art ideas, but I lack the energy and focus to do them.  I am also deep cleaning my house. I am trying to get rid of any allergen residue.  My daughter has shown an interest in cooking. This makes my life easier. Goddess bless my child, she is a gift and I am grateful.  I have some wine. I intend to relax this evening.  My a1c has greatly improved. I feel much better about my health overall. I am trying to bolster creativity among fellow artists. I created a group text for my fiber group. So far it has been very positive.  It has rained in my part of the world every single day for weeks. My garden looks great.  I changed up cle...

Fuck Me Running

My dears, it has been hell. On Monday, Aug. 17, I took my mother to the bank, then to pay her phone bill. That was a headache.  Monday night, I had an allergic reaction. Not only did my throat start to close, but my chest felt tight.  Around midnight, I started vomiting. I thought it was stress.  I was sick all day Tuesday. I did not get out of bed. I did not take insulin. Wednesday I was still vomiting, but the vomit smelled like sugar. My husband took me to the hospital. I stayed in ICU until late Thursday. I was having trouble swallowing. Friday, I figured out I could eat really slowly and take small bites. Not that I really ate much.  On Saturday, I forced myself to eat so I could go home.  All week, I have been struggling. I think my blood pressure is now too low, because I randomly get lightheaded. I move slowly. I am tired often.  I did make a point of cleaning off the piano, though I haven't felt like playing. I also did some gardening. I star...

The Witches & Majick Series Spring Edition Day 2

Image
Good morning, my dears! It's Day 2 and today's block is the Churn Dash. This block originated in the early 1800's, and it is meant to look like a butter churn. I know very few people churn their own butter, so here is a picture: Milk is poured into the jug, and the wooden thing, called a dash, stirs the milk, making it separate. Churning milk is necessary for making butter, cream, buttermilk, and cheese. Because there was no refrigeration, churning would have been a near daily chore.  Like most quilt blocks, this one has many names, such as through the barn door, and monkey wrench. Being that this block on based on a 9 patch grid, it also has many variations. Here is a two tone example. And here is a small star inside the churn dash.  Supposedly, this quilt was used in the Underground Railroad as a signal to gather supplies. I have a lot of issues with quilts being used as messages in the Underground Railroad. I will be discussing this in a later post.  Majickal us...
