Autumn

 

Good morning, my dears. It is the first day of Autumn. Technically, the sun enters Libra tonight. Which may be why I couldn't get any of my brooms to stand on their own. I use this paintbrush for sweeping negativity out of my journal. I have dark thoughts. I thought for sure this one would stand because it has near perfect bristles, but no go. 
Since none of the brooms would stand, I offer the sign of Libra from my Zodiac mirror. 

The theme today is balance. I spent the first hour of the morning looking at Pinterest before deciding I would feel so much better if I actually made something. 

My plan today is to spend some time sewing, before I do anything else.

    I've been sewing myself recently. Autumn always seems like the right time to start sewing to me :)

 Good afternoon, my dears. I am struggling today. I had several allergic reactions last night. The combo of lacking sleep and antihistamines has me dragging. I did a spell to remove the allergens. Enough already.  I am making lots of notes, so that when I am able to think, I will have a list of things to do. Fuck Me Running

 My dears, it has been hell. On Monday, Aug. 17, I took my mother to the bank, then to pay her phone bill. That was a headache.  Monday night, I had an allergic reaction. Not only did my throat start to close, but my chest felt tight.  Around midnight, I started vomiting. I thought it was stress.  I was sick all day Tuesday. I did not get out of bed. I did not take insulin. Wednesday I was still vomiting, but the vomit smelled like sugar. My husband took me to the hospital. I stayed in ICU until late Thursday. I was having trouble swallowing. Friday, I figured out I could eat really slowly and take small bites. Not that I really ate much.  On Saturday, I forced myself to eat so I could go home.  All week, I have been struggling. I think my blood pressure is now too low, because I randomly get lightheaded. I move slowly. I am tired often.  I did make a point of cleaning off the piano, though I haven't felt like playing. The Witches & Majick Series Spring Edition Day 2

  Good morning, my dears! It's Day 2 and today's block is the Churn Dash. This block originated in the early 1800's, and it is meant to look like a butter churn. I know very few people churn their own butter, so here is a picture: Milk is poured into the jug, and the wooden thing, called a dash, stirs the milk, making it separate. Churning milk is necessary for making butter, cream, buttermilk, and cheese. Because there was no refrigeration, churning would have been a near daily chore.  Like most quilt blocks, this one has many names, such as through the barn door, and monkey wrench. Being that this block on based on a 9 patch grid, it also has many variations. Here is a two tone example. And here is a small star inside the churn dash.  Supposedly, this quilt was used in the Underground Railroad as a signal to gather supplies.
